West Moreton Anglican College (WestMAC) is a dynamic Prep to Year 12 coeducational Independent Anglican school. The College
promotes a well-balanced schooling experience with diverse opportunities that prepare our students for the 21st century’s rapidly changing world.

Set on a naturally beautiful 38 hectare campus, which provides students with a peaceful and safe environment conducive to school life.
It is situated only 40 minutes to the Brisbane CBD and less than 1 hour to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Established in 1994, WestMAC has now grown to house a staggering 1350 students. This includes 15 international students from Japan, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong.

WestMAC’s innovative teachers inspire each individual student to continuously discover and explore their potential. Challenging students to actively engage in their learning, becoming critical, creative and entrepreneurial thinkers, while developing their emotional,
social and spiritual aptitude.

Academics at West Moreton Anglican College
West Moreton Anglican College provides a complete Prep to Year 12 academic program which follows the Australian Curriculum and
reports to the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).

WestMAC’s academic program is carefully sequenced, ensuring that each student is engaged in their learning through developmentally
appropriate content, assessment and grading. The College follows the Dimensions of Learning pedagogical framework that encourages
learning as a ‘meaningful experience’ through decision making, problem solving, invention, experimental inquiry, investigation
and system analysis. It’s curriculum has been collaboratively developed by the academic community to ensure that high quality
teaching is focused on inspiring each student to their academic potential and to be responsible for their personal learning journey.

WestMAC expects that all staff and students will be committed and actively contribute to the learning community. There is a high level
of integration across subject disciplines, year levels and between our academic and extra-curricular programs, ensures that students
have the opportunity to flourish.

Vocational Education
School transition programs, such as the School Based Apprentice and Traineeship Program, are an excellent tool to help facilitate
the smooth transition to full time employment in an ever changing environment. Furthermore through the Work Experience Program
students are able to make informed decisions regarding their career choices. Benefits for the participants include developing an appreciation of transferable skills achieved through hard work and commitment in all facets of their life.

West Moreton Anglican College in conjunction with Universities and surrounding TAFE Institutes allow students Years 11 or 12 the
opportunity to enrol in courses during their senior years ranging from Certificate courses to Diploma level courses.

The Campus Environment
The School’s facilities are extensive and impressive, providing for every pertinent academic, sporting, cultural and social aspect of a
boy’s education and development in the fullest sense. Contained within the campus West Moreton Anglican College provides
the following:
• 'Lostroh Centre' Multipurpose Hall - with a maximum seating
capacity of 2100 people, the facility offers performance opportunities
and expansive sporting areas.
• 25 metre pool with tiered seating
• Tennis, basketball, netball multipurpose courts
• Two large ovals with cricket nets and 2 soccer & hockey fields.
• Trade Skills Centre - features a robotics laboratory, dedicated
design space, machine shop, large open plan manufacturing
and construction workshops, general workshops, spray booths,
welding bays and over $300K of specialist, commercial level
equipment and machinery.
• Two libraries which service the three sub-schools.

The Farm
Due to its semi-rural setting and the sheer size of its campus - is abe to support a fully working farm which allows students from
both urban and rural backgrounds to acquire skills in horticulture and animal husbandry.
• The farm is home to a cattle herd of 21 head including 11 registered Charolais stud cattle.
• WestMAC’s Cattle Show team has been operating for over 10 years, students demonstrate their commitment to the Cattle Show Team by attending training in their own time on a weekly basis after school • Students can also work with poultry and goats. Beekeeping is
popular with many students and the product of the College’s hives wins many local Show awards.

International Students
West Moreton Anglican College welcomes students from all around the world for long and short term study options. International students offer richness in their backgrounds and provide opportunities for our community to appreciate diverse cultures. WestMAC’s well balanced schooling experience offers a pathway into a rewarding career or to complete additional study at university.
The College offers an inclusive and nurturing learning environment in combination with high quality pastoral care. The NEAS accredited ELICOS Centre ensures that the College can offer an individualized transition from English language studies into an academic program.

The Homestay Program
While studying at WestMAC, International students can enjoy an authentic cultural immersion through our homestay program. Research
has shown students improve their English more quickly when immersed in a homestay environment. All homestay families live within a reasonable distance of the College and many have children of their own attending WestMAC. The average travelling time for students to the College is 25 minutes. Students may travel to school by bus, train or private car. The Homestay Officer interviews families and assesses the accommodation to ensure the home is clean and comfortable and rooms are appropriately furnished, well-ventilated and secure. Rooms as a minimum standard have a single bed and bedroom furniture including a wardrobe and storage space. Families are also required to provide study facilities for the student. Linen and blankets are provided and the student’s laundry is washed and ironed as part of the homestay fee. The student is expected to keep their bedroom and other personal areas neat and tidy. Meals are provide
d three times a day for the student.
